Get ticketWhat do we do? We work from….well the shadows. Duh it’s in the title dumbass. What? Think I have an attitude problem? Oh boy, you’re new here aren’t you? Well buckle up sweetchecks. I’m about to fry your brain.
Forget what you know about the world you knew. That world is dead. From the rise of the Metahumans, the reign of the Dragons, the reappearance of magic, and the dominance of the Megacorps, there isn’t much left for us regular folk.
This world is held together by a tenuous thread: Shadowrunners. That’s us. You are both unseen and easily forgotten and erased but also the glue that holds society together. Your work allows both bad guys and good guys to have plausible deniability.
What does that mean? The hell should I know!! That’s something you talk to with your local Shaman. Existential crisis aside, are you ready to make the most of your short and (very) expendable life.
What happens during a Shadowrun game?
Lots of mayhem! Briefly, the player characters work as a team and get hired by Mr. Johnson (the pseudonym used by people contracting runs), scope out the job, do the legwork, and then carry out their plan.
You are only told as much as Mr Johnson wants you to know, but probably not everything that you need to know! Things will probably go wrong at some juncture. Violence is inevitable. It’s not a matter of if, but when and how. What are you gonna do about it? Cry like a little elf baby, or make like an Orc and smash your way to success? These are the things you will deal with as a Shadowrunner. As a game session progresses, players will meet obstacles or have the chance to use their skills to carry out their plan. This is when the dice come out!
What dice do I use?
Six-sided dice. Period. Sometimes one or two or three, sometimes a small handful, sometimes a large handful. Maybe twenty or more, when you get really good.
