The Longest Night | A Daggerheart Monster Hunt | Level 3

Andaluria is a land of sweeping vineyards where beauty and dread intertwine. By day, the streets and valleys are alive with festivals, music, and the scent of wine—but when the sun sets, monsters come out to feast. For generations, the old superstitions and folk rites kept the beasts at bay, but of late the nights have grown unnaturally long, and the citizens of Andaluria live in fear of increasingly terrifying monsters.

In this adventure, you’ll play monster hunters who must investigate horrific crimes, navigate political strife, and slay supernatural creatures to protect the people from eternal darkness.

The village of Oakmond has called upon you for aid. For the past month, something has been creeping into the village under the cover of darkness, leaving one person dead each night it appears. There are no witnesses. No one knows what the creature is, where it comes from, or why it has chosen Oakmond. The village is gripped by fear, and the people are desperate for answers. You have been sent to investigate the killings, uncover the truth behind whatever is stalking Oakmond, and put an end to the terror before another victim is claimed.

This game session will use the Daggerheart system, which promotes narrative collaboration between the players and the GM. This means you have the freedom to create things in the adventure. This story takes inspiration from the campaign frame of the same name, recently released in the new Hope and Fear expansion for Daggerheart.

Character Selection/Creation

Pre-generated characters will be provided for this adventure. We will use the following questions to build a short backstory for each PC though. Each player will be asked one of these questions, at random, at the start of the session.

1. Why did you choose to become a monster hunter?
2. What rumor have you heard about the resurgence of monsters in Audaluria, and how do you plan to test it?
3. Someone in your community disappeared without a trace. What do people say happened to them.
